...But, the most important destination for a new traveler lies east of the Heart of Engorn. Yes, the place this withered Wanderer speaks of is beautiful Zaddamal, the capital of the city-states. It, however, is the youngest of the cities of Engorn, for it was built as a means to unite the five races against a common enemy: the dark alliance of the spiderlings (children of their fiendish god) and the goblinoids (the orcs, goblins, trolls, and the like). The Eight-Year War required a fortified, united front to battle back the dark forces, and so Zaddamal was born, the grandest city known to mortal men. Its shimmering portals linked the five city-states together so that the leaders could bring forth their armies to drive the dark ones back to the Heart of Engorn, a massive mountain range at the center of the continent. When the War ended and the Heart sealed with unspeakable magicks, Zaddamal became a political, economic, and religious capital of the five major races. Much more can be said about the Jewel of Engorn, but time does not permit this old Wanderer to indulge in that affair...
