...To the west of Auddien is the place of perpetual darkness; Maegor, the Necropolis, is the home of the logash, the undead. The dead of the city do not bother hiding their depravity and, many times against the gods worshiped in other parts of the world. It is a vile, brutal place that breeds those who have adapted to live in those sorts of conditions. Its rigid caste system is evolved with their ability to manipulate the forces of the blackest of magicks, for those at the highest caste are the ancient lords of undeath--the vampires and liches (who are in perpetual war)--and those at the bottom have been stripped of their minds; shambling corpses are little more than slaves to the system, which is controlled by the dark lords above. Like the people, Maegor is surrounded by dark marsh to the north, black mountains, and even an eternally darkened sea to the south...
